The 15th Conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) took place from August 14-17, 2018 in Stockholm at the University of Stockholm. Anita von Poser was invited as guest speaker in the roundtable discussion "Moving psychological anthropologies" of the European Network of Psychological Anthropology (ENPA) to discuss the current debates with her perspective.
As part of the panel "Silences of/and Mobility: towards an anthropology of the unspoken and unspeakable", Edda Heyken also gave a lecture with the title "Silence as affective action: Cases from a Vietnamese psychiatric outpatient clinic". She addressed silence as an affective practice of memory and argued that silence as a habitualized form of coping with emotional suffering refers to a field of tension in the case of Vietnamese patients of the first generation, which reinforces belonging as well as affective crises.
