Lost between Cultures? Emotional Ambivalences in Name Giving Practices of Migrants (completed with June 2019)
People who have moved to another country very often face an emotional dilemma when they have to select a name for their children. Shall they choose a name that is common in their country of origin or a name that is common in the country of destination? The sociological project will analyze name-giving practices of parents who moved to Germany, factors that influence the decision of the parents as well as the role the affective attachment to the country of origin and the host society plays in the decision making process. » read more...
