DANIEL FRITZ V. SILVALLANA is a PhD candidate in Media and Communication at Deakin University, Melbourne Australia and an Assistant Professor of Communication at Davao del Norte State College, Philippines. My research interests focus on the intersections of climate change communication, journalism, and emotion where I examine how emotions inform and inflect journalistic practices in a mediatised environment and climate crisis dynamics. My methodological expertise includes qualitative approaches, such as textual analysis and (newsroom) ethnography. have been actively involved in both local and international research projects including examining cultural intelligence in higher education and framing analysis of conflict reporting. From 2024-2028, I will be part of the national health communication project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in Spain as a researcher. I published my works in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, including Plaridel Journal of Communication, Media and Society; International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning; Journalism and Media; and Development, Social Change and Environmental Sustainability published by Routledge.
