Rezension: Anna Greve: Koloniales Erbe in Museen. Kritische Weißseinsforschung in der praktischen Museumsarbeit
Bens, Jonas – 2022
German museums are - essentially - white spaces. They are white spaces insofar as non-white perspectives, ways of thinking and acting, but also specifically non-white people are classified, interpreted, evaluated, and not infrequently simply left out according to the rules of white normalization mechanisms. More and more people do not want to put up with this white dominance of museum spaces anymore and set themselves the goal of dismantling it. But how exactly does museum practice have to change in order to achieve this? Anna Greve addresses this question in her book "Colonial Heritage in Museums." Her proposal is to bring the findings of Critical Whiteness Studies into practical museum work.
