Afrika im Humboldt-Forum
Ivanov, Paola – 2015
The exhibitions about Africa in the Humboldt-Forum focus on the historical development of different African societies. We present these histories as deeply enmeshed with Europe, Asia, and the Americas because African societies were active agents in an interdependent, entangled world history. The temporal and spatial isolation of Africa is, in fact, a colonial construct. Dismantling this construct is an indispensible step in the decolonization of ethnological museums.
