March 2022: (1) "Feel the news - What moves Germany" is how Jule and Sascha Lobo (2022) titled their newly placed weekly podcast, which focuses on "this one, biggest emotional debate in the country". They thus explicitly addressed emotions as a relevant dimension of journalism: on the one hand, they name emotions as a content dimension that contributes to news generating resonance, to 'Germany being moved'. On the other hand, the title refers to a specific mode of reception: News is not advertised here as a source of information that should be used soberly and prudently. Rather, "Feel the news" pointedly names the affective addressing of the audience that is becoming increasingly important in hybrid media systems. The invitation to listeners to contribute to the podcast with their own voice messages picks up on this affective address and integrates it into the product. The Lobos have a good feeling for the growing importance of emotions in public communication and know how to integrate this strategically into their marketing.
