On August 14th 2018 Jonas Bens presented a paper at the 15th European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) biennial conference. The conference took place from 13th to 15th of August in Stockholm and was themed "Staying, Moving, Settling".

His paper "The Affect of Objectivity: On the Atmosphere of International Criminal Court Proceedings", which was part of the panel "The Anthropology of Emotions and Law [LAW NET]", describes the courtroom as an apparatus to produce specific affective and emotional dynamics, a specific courtroom atmosphere
