Due to the increasing intellectualization of right-wing populism, which goes hand in hand with an increased academic as well as journalistic interest in the movement of the New Right, there is also a growing awareness of new forms of action that are located in the cultural sphere. In sociology, however, the specifics of the right's use of art have so far been largely ignored, even though there is a consensus that literature seems to be of particular importance for the movement. This article takes this as its starting point and shows where a sociological analysis of New Right literary criticism could begin. On the one hand, the article presents the movement of the New Right and its literary politics; on the other hand, it theorizes the institution of literary criticism from a sociological perspective. The focus is on two central functions, the evaluation and interpretation of literature. This is exemplified by excerpts from the YouTube literature program Aufgeblättert.
