People and plants - emotional encounters in the botanical garden Berlin
The 7th episode of the podcast "More than a Feeling - Feelings and Society" is dedicated to the question of how interaction with plants shapes our emotional experience, and how touching and being touched by plants can be explored ethnologically. Guests are the two social and cultural anthropologists Sandra Calkins and Cornelia Ertl from the research project A07 entitled "Touching Plants", who conduct research at the Botanical Garden and Museum Berlin.
Do gardeners have favorite plants? How can we imagine a botanical expedition in 2021? And who actually visits the Botanical Garden? In conversation, Margreth Lünenborg and Birgitt Röttger-Rössler and their guests approach the special atmosphere of one of the largest botanical gardens in Germany and provide insights into the ambivalent feelings that visitors and employees experience when encountering rare and special plants in the face of dwindling biodiversity.
