Mixed Feelings – Shared Feelings. Narratives of Belonging in Contemporary Transcultural German-language Literature
The literary studies project A03 sets out to analyze the articulations of belonging in contemporary Berlin-literature back to the 1970s and conceptualizes them as critical involvements with and reflections on the plurality of affective societies. The project's central questions concern how in these literary texts belonging and non-belonging are enacted affectively and how they are intertwined with the historical city-scape, which is shaped by various processes of migration. The aim is to show how Berlin-literature produces a topography of feeling, how the city's undergoing change since the 1990s relates to the 'mixed and shared feelings' of literature and how the city as an actor herself shapes these literary texts.
