Isabella Villanova ist Postdoktorantin des Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships am Institut für Linguistik und Literaturwissenschaft der Vrije Universiteit Brüssel und momentan Gastwissenschaftlerin am SFB Affective Societies der Freien Universität Berlin. Ihr aktuelles Forschungsprojekt AFROPEMOTIONS untersucht die kulturellen und politischen Verwicklungen von Emotionen in der afro-europäischen Literatur von Frauen. Das Projekt wurde sowohl mit dem Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship und dem Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship der Forschungsinstitution Flanders ausgezeichnet. Deshalb wird das Projekt in den ersten zwei Jahren (September 2025 - August 2027) von der MSCA und im dritten Jahr (September 2027 - October 2028) von der FWO finanziert. Isabella hatte zuvor Postdoktorandenstellen am Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence der Universität Bayreuth und am Institut für Afrikastudien der Universität Wien inne. Von 2023 bis 2024 war sie als außerordentliche Professorin für anglophone Literatur an der University for Foreigners of Perugia tätig und zuvor Gastwissenschaftlerin an der University of Leeds. Im Jahr 2021 promovierte sie an der University of Padua mit dem Thema der anglophonen afrikanischen Literatur von Frauen.
