Dr. Tamar Blickstein is an American anthropologist and associate member of the SFB Affective Societies at Freie Universität, and a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellow at Ca Foscari University (Venice). She currently co-leads (with Karina Rocktäschel) the SFB’s Ecology and Affect Working Group, and previously led the SFB's Affect and Colonialism Workshop. She has published and conducted ethnographic research on colonial modes of dispossession, racialization, and contested memory politics in Latin America and Europe, and authored the SFB publication “Affects of Racialization” (Routledge 2019, Slaby & von Scheve). Her Marie Curie Individual Fellowship project examines the affects of environmental loss in the agribusiness and deforestation frontiers of the South American Gran Chaco. She holds a PhD in cultural anthropology from Columbia University, and Masters degrees from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and from Sciences-Po (Paris).
