Affect and Blackness

In the format of biweekly reading sessions, the group explores notions of affect in the context of Black Studies. Not only do we attend to conceptual propositions of the specifics of affect and blackness, but we also make styles of writing and reading the objects of our conversations. Thinkers like Fred Moten, Hortense Spillers, Sylvia Wynter or Frank Wilderson III and their younger commentators have formed the groups syllabi. With interdisciplinary backgrounds we discuss how ideas of (dis)possession, affect(ability), sexuality, agency and the human as such are to be understood under the conditions of racial subjection and white supremacy.
