This chapter examines the role of affect in socio-political mobilization, uncovering the often-hidden mechanisms and orientations that drive societal change. Drawing on social and cultural anthropology, political science, and media and communication studies, we highlight three key dimensions: first, the role bodies and sensations play in mobilization; second, the resonances and conflicts within and between movements and institutions; and third, the often-unexpected outcomes of collective mobilization, from structural transformations to disintegration. Based on three vignettes—focusing on climate activism, migration, and religious solidarity—the chapter contributes to the understanding of affective mobilization’s impact on political dynamics and collective struggles.
