Yael Navaro wird im Rahmen des Projektworkshops “Affective Politics and Political Transformation in Turkey and Egypt” (5. - 6. Dezember 2019, FU Berlin) die Keynote "Affective Regimes in Turkey and Beyond" halten.

Yael Navaro ist Dozentin am Institut für Sozial Anthropologie an der Universität Cambridge und Fellow und Studienleiterin am Newnham College an der Universität Cambridge. Sie ist Autorin von "Faces of the State: Secularism and Public Life in Turkey" (Princeton 2002) und "The Make-Believe Space: Affective Geography in a Postwar Polity" (Duke 2012).

The talk studies the political incitement to nationalistically orientated affects, as well as the discouragement and criminalisation of non-nationalist affects in contemporary Turkey. It explores how the affects have become a central component of governance.
